The 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD comes in regular cab, double cab and crew cab configurations. Buyers can get the Sierra 3500HD in five trim levels: Sierra, SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali. Two engines are on offer: a 6.6-liter V8 producing 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque that's mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and a 6.6-liter turbocharged diesel V8 developing 445 hp and 910 lb-ft that's paired to a 10-speed automatic.
The Sierra, SLE and SLT trims get standard rear-wheel drive. Those models get optional four-wheel drive, while the AT4 and Denali trims get four-wheel drive standard. Some models have a dual rear-wheel option that adds more towing capability.
Standard features for the base 2021 Sierra 3500HD include 18-inch steel wheels, LED headlights and taillights, a 40/20/40-split front bench seat, manual windows and door locks (regular cab), vinyl seats and floor coverings, manually adjustable trailering mirrors, a locking tailgate and spare tire carrier, a trailering hitch, and cargo bed steps. The infotainment system includes a 7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
At the top of the lineup, the luxurious Denali trim includes 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, automatic high-beam headlights, premium leather seats, a power-sliding rear window, side steps, and a bed-view camera. Also standard is an upgraded driver information display, a Bose premium audio system, navigation and wireless charging.
The Denali trim includes safety and driver-assistance features such as lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system. Several of these features are optional on the other trim levels.
